I have an exhibition coming at Galleria Dix/Studio on 11th of November. I´m very much looking forward to it. So much fun!

Here is something new from this year.

It´s been a while. The spring was very hard because I had the worst morning sickness, the kind of that lasted for a whole day :)... I´m pregnant with triplets, so maybe the quantity of hormones trebled too!

But now I´m feeling better and I´ve been working on my exhibition that is in November 2009. My children will be about a year old then. I don´t want to stress about the exhibition when I´m home with them so I decided to make the paintings before they are born. These are made for my three unborn children, that will be the theme of my exhibition. That might be a very "used" theme, but I think it is important, and for me these children are almost all that goes through my head at the moment. And besides, triplets are a BIG miracle, not something that that happens to all people every day! :)

Maybe a few times a year I get the feeling that I MUST paint with colors that I don´t like or that I don´t feel to have any control on them. It´s not like I feel the need to change in me, it´s just that I think that other people think that one can not be a decent painter if he/she doesn´t paint with blue or violet or colors like that. VERY reasonable. Of course people think that way...

So I went to a shop and bought myself some blue. The first painting of this post is made after that shopping trip. And now I can again think of myself as respectful member of society... I painted a picture using blue :)

And then a few weeks after that I bought some reflex-yellow paint. Shame on me.

I think it is time to put that blue on some distant shelf only to take out from there again for a day after six or seven months...

This painting measures 65x60cm.

I think he looks like a penguin, what do you say? I´m not sure yet about the painting´s name. It will come to me in a while, I´m sure....

These all quite small because I´m doing pieces for our exhibition in Rovaniemi. This exhibition opens on November 26th and there are pieces from me and my three artist friends: Aneri, ElinaL and Elvi. We are all such different painters, so it´s going to get very interesting when we are hanging our pieces on the walls in Rovaniemi :)

Technique stuff

I think it´s quite clear that I´m a painter. But I would like to say something about my painting technique, this mixed media thing. For me that means first glueing the canvas. Then I rip some pages from newpapers and glue them with acrylic medium. Then I put gesso on those spots on canvas without any newspaper on them.
And then begins the real painting! I have painted with oils for about three years but a few months ago I felt that I needed something different. I have used acrylic paints on the first layers of my paintings for a long time but I didn´t really see them as "real paints". Funny, eh? Well, now I have used them from the first layer in to the last one in about ten paintings and I´m very satisfied for the results. Now I´m just wondering why it took me so long to understand the greatness of acrylic paints... :)
Almost always the texts in my paintings come the last, though they have been in my head through the whole painting process. Texts come from the feelings that the painting gives to me. I write them with charcoal wich I think is the Ultimate Art Tool! Gotta love that :) So delicate and traditional.
